Dr. Eamon Laird

Eamon obtained his Primary Degree in Human Nutrition (2008) and a Doctorate in Nutrition and Bone health (2012) from the University of Ulster, Coleraine. Currently he is employed by the two large studies of aging in Ireland: The TUDA Study and the The Irish LongituDinal Study on Ageing (TILDA). He also collaborates with a range of research groups including the Nutrition Innovation Centre for Food and Health (NICHE), Waterford Institute of Technology on Drug addiction studies and the Central Pathology Laboratory at St James’s hospital, Dublin on geo-mapping nutritional and health biomarkers. His research examining both vitamin D status and yogurt and bone health has been reported in international print (New York Times, The Times, The Examiner) and broadcast media (BBC, RTE).

Eamon is also a grant reviewer for the Grant review Board and Referee panel for Health and Medical Research Fund (HMRF) Hong Kong, China and is employed as a European Co-operation in Science & Technology (COST) external expert. He also reviews for numerous Nutrition and Health Journals and is an Editorial Board member for the Journal Nutrients.

-Vitamin D status in older adult populations and health associations
-Vitamin B12 and folate inter-relationships
-Dairy intakes, bone and CVD health
-Geo-mapping of nutritional status
